Nick Fiorillo
Well, I graduated from High School in 1989, went on to study Architecture at Triton until ’92.
Got my degree and worked a bit here and there until I got bored. Lucky thing was that I heard
what a great time you can have at SIU … so I decided to pack on up and apply to Southern
Illinois University at Carbondale.
Wow, did I have a good time. And I even managed to get my Business degree with a major in Economics.
I got out of school, moved back home, and was in a hurry to get a job and start making some dough.
Too much of a hurry because I ended up taking a manager position at Menards, which I told myself
was just ‘temporary’ until I found a job more to my qualifications. Yeh, we know how
that story usually goes.
In my case however it actually was temporary, because exactly one year later I decided ‘what the hell’
and I moved out to Sweden so I can live with my girlfriend, do something different, and see
what it was like outside the U.S.
Turns out that life outside the U.S. is quite relaxing. The pace is much slower and people
actually placed their focus on other things rather than primarily on ‘their job’.
So, here I am. In Sweden now since ’97 … damn it's been a while now! Doesn’t quite feel that way.
